We love functional jewelry!

And this purse pendant (early 20th century) is a beauty — its body formed by fine, silky, gold mesh comprised of countless tiny interconnected hand made gold loops. The frame is open gold work, composed of dimensional gold leaves and berries with lovely patina. We have had a few other chain mail purse pendants, but this is the first to have soft gathers where the gold mesh meets the frame. That detail just highlights how supple that chain mail is. Divine.

A loop on the back invites the addition of a chain to sling this pendant long and low. May we suggest a French sautoir?

What would you keep in this purse? We would stow our foiled Georgian rings in here — the ones we remove for hand washing, and pray we do not one day leave behind in a restaurant restroom. A wearable gold pocket. How chic is that! Or perhaps this can be the ultimate presentation bag for a very special jewelry gift!
