(SOLD) Antique Edwardian Substantial Gold Flat Curb Double Albert Watch Chain

(SOLD) Antique Edwardian Substantial Gold Flat Curb Double Albert Watch Chain
An antique gentleman’s watch chain with the attendant clasps has become a modern day jewelry wardrobe essential — for everyone. We offer only the heavier, longer, wider examples in 14k — which are becoming increasingly scarce, especially as the price of gold has continued to climb. We are especially pleased to be able to offer this chain to you at a very favorable price.
This exemplar dates to 1912, the year the Titanic made it first and only voyage, and just two years before the world plunged into a great war that changed society at large. This chain has witnessed all of that, surviving in immaculate condition, complete with original plaques marking its year of manufacture.
The chain is generously proportioned and weighty, with flat curb links, a curved T-bar, sliding dropper chains, and three clasps (1 spring ring and 1 dog clip on the primary chain and another spring ring at the dropper chain). Suspend pendants from any of the clasps. Note that the dropper chains are mounted on a ring that slides along the chain to a desired position. (At buyer’s option, we can modify the dropper chain — remove the curved T-bar and replace it with the spring ring from the primary chain. This would create an additional dropper chain terminating in a spring ring, with room for more pendants and charms).
OR, to achieve the look shown in photo below, use the curved T- bar as a toggle by adding a Lucky 8 in the XL size as the toggle closure. Of course, you may also add your own split ring, a gold ring, what have you, to achieve the same effect. When worn this way, you will have 2 dropper chains with the spring clasps to use to suspend charms and pendants.
The chain has a reassuring visual and physical presence — just bold enough, with a silky feel and soft patina imparted only by time. The color is a lovely shade of yellow without the rosiness of many other antique chains of this kind — complementing any other color of metal in your chain stacks. The photos of the chain only were taken in eastern natural indirect light (reflecting warm). The photo of the chain worn on the body was taken in northern natural indirect light (reflecting cool).
Pendants and Lucky 8 clasp and charm holder shown are not included.
Marked 14k, 1912, with maker’s mark.
14k gold.
