Antique Victorian Black Enamel and Diamond Solitaire Ring

Antique Victorian Black Enamel and Diamond Solitaire Ring
A rather delightful antique diamond solitaire.
A lively old mine cut diamond sits atop a lofty gold double belcher setting. We see the stylized petals of a flower (though this is not quite a buttercup). All this is set against gleaming black enamel. The dramatic black and gold combo feels fresh — landing this in the category of “antique, but modern.”
We would wear this on any finger, complemented by neighboring stacks of other gold and black enameled rings — such as your favorite mourning bands.
Rings shown worn on the middle finger are not included.
Unmarked.
14k gold, diamond, enamel.
Dimensions and weight:
● 10.2 mm wide tapering to 2.1 mm
● Diamond approx. .34 ct; VS2 clarity, J-K color4.5mm wide
● 6.6 mm high (measured to the top of the diamond)
● 3.8 grams
● US size 8.5 (cannot be re-sized)
Period: Victorian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. There is some wear to the enamel, commensurate with age. There are some scratches on the inside of the shank — possibly made to test gold content sometime in the past. By design, only the shoulders are enameled — the back is plain gold. We think there had been a gold mark on the exterior of the shank, now illegible.
