(SOLD) Antique French Early 20th Century Lucky Star Gold Medallion Pendant
(SOLD) Antique French Early 20th Century Lucky Star Gold Medallion Pendant
Rare, Lucky.
This is a rarely found, highly desirable French lucky star medallion.
A dimensional laurel leaf and reeded border frames a textured medallion embedded with a ruby-set star. The star is part of a rebus, with the message reading “Cette [étoile] porte bonheur” (tThis star brings happiness).
We seldom come across this medallion, and have seen similar examples inscribed for the 1920s. This particular one is marked with the French horse’s head, which was used until 1919, so we can use that as the outside date for this precious find.
Wear this good luck talisman as one of many, or solo. It is striking and large enough to readily stand alone.
Chains and other pendants shown are not included.
Marked with French horse’s head, in use from 1847-1919, and “déposé” on the reverse.
18k gold, ruby (presumed synthetic).
Dimensions and weight:
● 30.5 mm long (including bail)
● 21.2 mm diameter
● 1.2 mm deep
● 1.7 mm largest ruby
● 3.8 grams
Period: Edwardian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present.
*For deliveries outside of the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
