Antique 18th Century Georgian Five Old Mine Cut Diamond Ring

$5,850.00

From a bygone time.

We are pleased to offer a much coveted Georgian 5 diamond ring. These rings are scarce to find in all diamond, and this example is graced with lovely, bright cushiony old mine cuts — with the central diamond standing nice and tall. Admire the characteristic “D” shape of the ring’s profile, as well as the bulbous rayed back of the setting for the central diamond.

We love this worn with other, period band rings, such as a gold posey or mourning band ring. Or even wear this on a chain, as the profile of this is quite lovely.

For similar rings, see “Georgian Jewellery,” by Dawes and Collings, page 32. As with rings of this era and type, the diamonds are set in silver, and the rest of the ring is gold.

Unmarked

18k gold, silver, diamond.

Dimensions and weight:

●  5 mm long x 16.5 mm wide (diamond section of ring)

●  2.2 grams

●  US size 8 (a smidge over) (ring shows sign of past resizing)

● Central diamond measures approximately 4 mm x 4 mm (visible portion of the diamond).

Period: Georgian (circa 1780)

*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. Please take care not to submerge in liquids, as the gemstones are in foiled closed backed settings.
