(SOLD) Antique Georgian Chrysoberyl Cluster Ring

(SOLD) Antique Georgian Chrysoberyl Cluster Ring
Cushiony, Lustrous.
We have been lucky to have several antique chrysoberyl pieces in the shop, and we are delighted to offer this latest addition, from our own personal collection.
This cluster is a forever classic — a center stone, with a single halo. This configuration is a rarer find in chrysoberyl. So much more often, we see chrysoberyl in the larger, plaque rings from Portugal (which, of course, we also adore). This beauty is feminine, quietly elegant, and eye-catching with the unmistakable color and luster of chrysoberyl. The color varies, depending on the lighting (all photos taken in natural light; video taken in direct sunshine). Look closely to notice that the cluster is ever so slightly cushion shaped, echoing the cut of the gemstones. Love that.
During this ring’s centuries-long existence, it has been skillfully restored with every attention to period detail, ready for many more years of life. The shank is a restoration or an antique, period appropriate replacement. The rayed back of the ring may also have been restored at the same time. We have fully enjoyed this gorgeous Georgian since we acquired it from London all those years ago, and we know its next custodian will love and admire it as much as we do.
As was the norm for the period, the gemstones are foil backed, set in silver over gold, and closed backed.
Unmarked.
15k gold, silver, chrysoberyl.
Dimensions and weight:
● 13 mm x 13 mm (face of ring)
● 3 grams
● US size 7 (can be resized)
Period: 18th century (last quarter)
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. As with other antique, closed backed rings, please take care to avoid submerging in liquids.
*For deliveries outside of the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
