(SOLD) Antique Georgian Gold Quizzing Glass
This is an early chased gold quizzing glass, circa 1810, popular in the 18th and first decades of the 19th centuries. The fixed handle is reminiscent of a figure 8. This kind of quizzing glass would have been worn by Georgian-era gentlemen and ladies as a fashion accessory, as much as a visual aid, on chains or ribbons. Wear this on a long chain or silk or leather cord.
This particular quizzing glass is of a generous size, with a magnifying lens that is likely a replacement, recently repolished.
Corded necklace shown is not included.
Unmarked.
14k gold, glass.
Dimensions and weight:
● 80 mm long
● 50 mm wide
● 26 grams (total, including glass)
Period: Georgian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present.
