In the Victorian era, the buckle in jewelry symbolized the eternal bonds of friendship and love — often between the giver and receiver. This enduring buckle motif is front and center in this French late 19th century bangle — embellished by antique rose cut diamonds set in silver over gold. The bangle itself is a mellow rosy gold. More than 100 years old, this piece is surprisingly contemporary in feeling — sentimental, but streamlined, and supremely wearable today.
Bangle is hinged on the side, with a secure box clasp and safety chain. Buckle is decorative only (non-functional).
Marked with French eagle's head, French rhinoceros’ head, and maker’s mark.
