(SOLD) Antique Diamond and Pearl Shoulder Duster Drop Earrings
Attention-Grabber, Scene-Stealer.
Prepare to be openly admired when wearing these dramatically long and elegant earrings. Central panels of gold and shimmering rose cut (with a couple of table cut) diamonds are finished on top and bottom with triangular panels set with pearls. Alluring movement to these articulated tri-part pendants.
We believe the central panels were originally part of a larger jewel dating to the 19th century (or earlier) — imaginatively transformed in the late 19th or early 20th century with the addition of the pearl panels and earring wires. We adore the contrast of the scrolling flourishes of the centerpieces with the geometric outlines of the panels.
We can visualize these worn with the long and sleek Mariano Fortuny gowns of the early decades of the 20th century or the new linear silhouettes of the 1920s. So effortlessly chic.
Found in Spain.
Unmarked.
14k gold (central panels), 10k gold, diamond, pearl.
Dimensions and weight:
● 9.3 cm/3.6 inches long (including wire)
● 15.4 mm wide
● 3.7 mm deep
● 21.7 grams (total)
Period: 19th/early 20th century
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. These earrings have a lot of presence, but are comfortable to wear (in our opinion). Gold content tests variably (not uncommon with antique), but we have noted the low end. We have carefully cleaned these earrings as much as possible, respecting the pearls and closed-back diamonds. Please do not submerge in liquids or use ultrasonic cleaners.
*For deliveries outside of the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
